Drunk pedestrian leaps into traffic, causing a serious wreck

A man in Kentucky has been arrested after allegedly getting drunk and repeatedly jumping into traffic. In one instance, his actions caused a chain-reaction accident leading to serious injuries.

The incident happened on West Ky. 80. Multiple people called the police to say that the man was sitting in the road, lying on the pavement and running out in front of vehicles repeatedly.

Two officers responded and began driving to the scene. Before they could arrive, though, another call came in. Two cars had collided and at least one person was badly hurt. This happened right around 11:23 in the morning.

According to reports, the man stepped out into traffic in the eastbound lanes. A 55-year-old woman was behind the wheel of an oncoming Cadillac SUV, and she braked aggressively to avoid the crash.

Behind her, a 63-year-old man was driving a Dodge Ram. He also tried to stop, but the roads were slick and he could not slow down in time. The Ram smashed into the Cadillac.

The pickup truck driver was hurt and taken to the hospital, though his injuries are minor compared to those suffered by the woman in the SUV. She was rushed to Saint Joseph London hospital.

The pedestrian was reportedly drunk and angry that no one would run into him. He apparently threw a flashlight at a car that avoided hitting him before the main wreck. That driver stopped, and then the intoxicated man attempted to open the door and get in.

This case shows that you really can never predict accidents or what will cause them. If you're injured, it's important to know what legal rights you may have to compensation.
