Qualifying for supplemental security income in Kentucky?

Supplemental security income is a nationwide program, and it allows people who have a limited income to be able to seek financial benefits from the government. Many people are often left confused about who is eligible for these types of benefits and who is not.

It is important that you first understand whether you are an eligible candidate for supplemental security income before you start to file an application. This way, you can save time, effort and you can understand what type of information you will need to provide.

Who is eligible for supplemental security income?

In order to qualify for supplemental security income, you must either be classed as legally blind, aged over 65 or have a medical illness that is severe enough to prevent you from carrying out any type of meaningful work.

If I qualify for supplemental security income, how much money will I earn?

The amount that each qualifying candidate can receive is the same across the entire country. In 2018, this is $750 dollars per person per month, and $1,125 for a couple per month.

If you have another source of income, for example, a part-time job or a stipend from a family member, this must be declared. As a result, you may not be able to receive the full amount of supplemental security income benefits.

If you are looking into the possibility of being eligible for supplemental security income benefits, you should first of all ensure that you meet the basic criteria. You should then compile the appropriate documentation for your application.
